KNOX Counter Cannot be Reset on Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge with Root!

For those of you wondering whether the KNOX security flag can be reset or not on the Galaxy S6 with root, it is not possible.  At least not yet but if you are going to root your Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, you may want to know that currently there’s no known method to reset the KNOX counter.

What is a KNOX counter?

It is a counter used by Samsung to tell if the user has rooted their phone or not.  Now, most U.S. carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon do not check for this (as I have returned many phones for warranty with KNOX counter set) in my personal experience.  But as a rule of thumb, do reflash stock firmware on your S6 or S6 Edge before returning phone for warranty and also DO NOT tell the technical support team that you’ve rooted your phone.  They won’t check it unless you tell them.

As for those of you who live outside U.S. and you deal directly with Samsung service department, you may want to be aware that they do check for KNOX counter and your warranty may be voided if they find out.   Again, if you are not going to Samsung directly, I wouldn’t worry too much about KNOX counter also get insurance if this is the first time you are rooting your Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge.
