How to Root Galaxy S6/S6 Edge on Android 5.1.1!

For those of you who want to root your Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, you will want to follow a different root method as Google has changed how rooting works with newer Android 5.1.1.  Due to Android 5.1.1 changes, you can no longer root your S6 or S6 Edge without causing it to soft-brick.  But there’s a work-around, this goes back to the days of older Android ICS and Gingerbread where we flash a modified kernel to make root possible.  It’s unfortunate that the newer Android 5.1.1 makes rooting more complex but it is still doable with a custom kernel.

How to Turn Galaxy S6 into S6 Edge! [VN ROM]

Want to turn your Galaxy S6 into an S6 Edge?  There’s a ROM for that called VN ROM.

Based on latest Android 5.0.2 SM-G925F firmware, VN ROM brings you S6 Edge features like Edge Lighting and People Edge to your Galaxy S6.

The best part?  You can install this ROM on any Galaxy S6 model except AT&T and Verizon (as they have locked bootloaders).  I was able to install it just fine on my T-Mobile Galaxy S6 SM-G920T (but you will lose WiFi calling since this is an international ROM although you will have all language support).

How to Root AT&T/Verizon Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge! [PingPong ROOT]

For those of you who have been waiting for root on your AT&T/Verizon Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge(SM-G920A/SM-G925A/SM-G920V/SM-G925V), we have some good news for you, there’s now a new root method called “PingPong Root” that will root it easily within 5 minutes.

This will also work on many other variants of Galaxy S6/S6 Edge and will not trip KNOX.  If you don’t need custom ROMs, you can also use this root method to give your S6 or S6 Edge “root” only.

How to Unroot Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge!

For those of you who want to unroot, you can easily do this on the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge by simply reflashing stock firmware using ODIN program.  This would be ideal for those of you who want to reinstall stock firmware on your phone, maybe need to return phone for warranty purposes, or perhaps selling your phone on eBay or Craigslist.  Also, maybe you ended up in a nasty bootloop and you want to restore your phone.
